#BlackLivesMatter
In light of the events in America and the rest of the world earlier this month, and the death of George Floyd due to police brutality it’s important to us as a society to reflect on how we can both educate ourselves and do our bit in the fight against racism. As an international society, we want to emphasise this is not solely an issue in America and the black community deserve our support worldwide.

Below, we have detailed a number of ways in which you can help.
1. Educate yourselves about the origin, as well as the on-going racism in today’s society and white privilege. Some documentaries include:
13th on Netflix
When They See Us on Netflix
Black America Since MLK: And I Still Rise on Amazon Prime
Some books that you can read include:
Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
They Can’t Kill Us All by Wesley Lowery
They Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
There are many, many others that we could have included, so we encourage you to look into other books, documentaries and other forms of media that are available to you.
2. Sign petitions:
We have included just a few petitions below that you can sign:

3. Contribute to relevant causes if you are able to. Some include:

Victim funds
Bail funds for protestors
There are also a number of streams that are on-going, in which any revenue made will be donated to BLM causes. So please check these out too. Please see the link further along for links to further ways in which you can contribute.
4. Be active in calling out racism when you see it happening.
The attached link here has a number of further ways in which you can support BLM, with links to further resources such as more petitions and protests near you (internationally) - https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
As a society and as a committee in particular, as noted above, we will continually educate ourselves and support the BLM movement in every way that we can. We stand in solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter.
